I've been speaking in a number of businesses recently and have discovered that there's a gap between how people leaders are listening to their teams, but not having their teams “feel” listened to.

If your team fall into the latter category, then they'll only continue to speak up for so long, and then they'll go silent. This may be music to the ears of some people leaders, but it will have significantly negative impacts down the track in terms of:

  • Safety
  • Problem and opportunity identification
  • Creative thinking
  • Team Morale
  • And the list goes on…

Help your team to “feel listened to”- it might feel like a short-term pain, but it will result in benefits to you, the team, and the broader business in the long run.
