If you are aware that your relational account in terms of trust and respect with someone is low, or even overdrawn, then be aware that it will be harder to generate a positive outcome from a courageous conversation, as compared to a relationship where trust and respect are high. This reflection on the state of the relationship between yourself and the recipient maybe one reason why you might delay the timing of broaching the subject with the person until the relationship has improved to the point where the conversation can culminate in a beneficial conclusion.
